Instructions

This folder contains templates for the different types of content in our curriculum. If you’re working on a GitHub issue, the issue should’ve specified which template to use.

This README also includes Standards, Style Guide, and Other Requirements. Pull request reviewers should follow this guide. If something is missing, please add it.

Introduction

First thanks for volunteering to help Techtonica improve its curriculum!

Style Guide

Read the tips below and check existing docs for examples. When in doubt, ask the project maintainers.

Slides Style Guide

All slides should match our Google Slides Master Template

Lesson Outline Style TL;DR

TBD: See #569.

Lesson Length

Try to get someone to run through the lesson and exercises. Ideally, most lessons should be around 2 hours total (or less). Larger lessons should be split into parts.

Typically, tutorials already exist for most of our lessons. Your job as a contributor is to provide the context and glue that turns a list of external links into a cohesive lesson.

Outline vs. Slides vs. Slide Video

To support different learning styles, we like to offer the content in these three formats. However, if due to time constraints you can only work on one, Slides may be the most effective. Please note that typically the slides will be consumed alone, not actually presented by anyone, but they force a concise length and invite visuals.

When in doubt, add slides.

Okay I am ready to get started
